Hi! I’m Mariah Mahoney, LCSW

I understand that asking for help takes courage, and even getting this far can feel like a lot.

If you are looking for a therapist with “big-sister energy,” you’re in the right place! By that, I mean someone supportive, honest, and nurturing. Someone who will cheer you on, encourage your growth, and tell you the truth when you need it. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and trauma-informed. I’ll support you while also gently challenging you so you can move forward in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

Do you ever feel inadequate or unworthy? Maybe you struggle with your sense of identity, feel stuck in patterns that are hard to change, or find yourself repeating the same arguments in your relationship. If Taylor Swift’s words, “a pathological people pleaser who only wanted you to see her,” resonate, you’re not alone, and I’m glad you’re here. Together, we’ll look at the patterns and coping strategies that once protected you but may now be holding you back.

I specialize in working with individuals and couples navigating feelings of inadequacy, attachment wounds, complex trauma, PTSD, body image and eating concerns, relationship communication challenges, and transitions such as leaving high-demand religion. I tailor therapy to your needs using approaches such as mindfulness, somatic practices, Othmer Method Neurofeedback, EMDR, the Gottman Method (Levels I and II), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) or parts work. Feel free to ask about what any of these are in our consultation! I will always explain and get your buy-in in sessions!

My background informs my approach. I hold a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Human Nutrition. I am a mixed-race Native American (Cherokee). I affirm LGBTQ+ identities, am body-positive, sex-positive, and have an anti-diet culture approach. I am committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for everyone, regardless of background or identity, where you can show up just as you are. Supporting marginalized communities and continuing to learn and grow in my work are central to my practice.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find me with my partner and our fur babies, hiking, skiing, or soaking up nature. I also love yoga, art, music, and good food. I rarely say no to a concert, and if I’m dancing (or crying) to music, it’s probably Taylor Swift. I bring nature indoors with my growing plant collection, which even spills into my office. I also enjoy relaxing on the couch with a drink, a snack, and a good show!

If you’d like to work together, I offer sessions both in-person and online to fit your needs and schedule. To get started, just reach out to schedule a free consultation so we can talk about what you’re looking for and how I can help. I look forward to connecting and supporting you on your journey!
